Corrections
If something on a Decira profile is wrong, email [email protected]. We acknowledge every request within two business days and aim to resolve it within ten.
Who can ask
Anyone: the organization, its staff or board, a funder, or a member of the public.
What to send
- The organization's name and EIN
- The fact or passage you think is wrong
- What's wrong, and what's correct
- A source if you have one, such as a filing, a public web page or a document
Please don't send sensitive personal information we don't need.
What happens next
- We confirm we've received your request.
- We check what you sent against our sources.
- We tell you what we found and what, if anything, changed.
| What we find | What we do |
|---|---|
| We made an error: misread a filing, or matched the wrong organization | We fix it and date the correction on the profile. |
| A news story or screening result is about a different organization or person | We mark it as a wrong match and remove it from what customers see. |
| The filing itself contains an error | We show what was filed. Once an amended return is filed with the IRS, we update the profile. |
| The information is out of date | We refresh it from the newest source. |
| You disagree with an analyst's review | An analyst reviews it again with what you sent. The review may or may not change, and we tell you the outcome. |
If an organization disagrees with a review, it can respond through [email protected]. The analyst considers the response in the re-review. We don't publish responses on profiles.
Every correction is dated on the profile it changed.
What we won't change
- We don't remove accurate filed information or accurate public reporting because an organization would prefer it not appear.
- Organizations can't pay to change or remove anything a profile says.
